The Average Penis Size
It seems men love to worry that they're not quite measuring up to other men. When it comes to penises one of the most searched phrases is "average penis size". So are you below average, above average or Mr Average himself?
Over the years a range of penis measuring studies have been carried out and they all seem to have ended up with slightly different results as to what average is. So you have to average out the averages to end up with a figure.
How To Measure Your Penis
If you want to know how you compare to other men you'll need to measure yourself properly. You need to measure yourself several times over several days and at different times of the day. This is because not all erections are equal. You'll probably find that some of your erections are bigger than others which is why you shouldn't just go with the one measurement. Also if you're nervous about the measuring process you may find that you start to shrink as soon as you start to measure. Measuring over several days will help you become more comfortable with the idea. Having compiled a list of measurements you then need to average the results out.
To measure properly you need to be standing. Hold your erect penis parallel to the floor and then measure along the top from the base to the tip, not along the bottom. Measuring the width of your penis is a little more complicated as you'll need to measure in three places - just below the glans, in the middle and at the base. Then work out the average of the three girth measurements.
So What Is The Average Penis Size?
The various studies have shown that the average erect length is 12.7 - 15 cm (5 - 5.9 in) with the average circumference being approximately 12.3 cm (4.85 in).
There have been fewer studies on the size of flaccid penis length but the figure seems to be around 3.5 inches. All studies have shown there is not link between flaccid and erect length.
However before you become despondent because you're only 11 cm remember that because of the way averages can work most men fall into the below average category. So the truth is that the majority of men have penises that are deemed smaller than average which makes using the "average" rather poor way to compare penises.
